A Mother’s Secret by Amy Clipston a Book Review

My Review: Even though this story is part of a series I think it can be read as a stand alone book which is how I read it.
The book starts with Carolyn and Joshua meeting at a horse auction. They aren’t immediately drawn to each other but early on in the story they both find they have feelings for each other. Joshua’s mother stands in the way and Carolyn needs to come clean about her own past.
The path to true love never did run smooth.
Amy’s book runs along at a nice clip and her characters are nice and varied. (I talk about that a lot with Amish books because some Amish characters all act the same). Carolyn, unlike most Amish women we read about, seems to have some spirit while Joshua is quiet, reserved, and thoughtful but strong.
Carolyn’s plight is a hard one to deal with in the Amish community. Her steadfastness in dealing with it speaks volumes about her strength of character. A weaker woman would have left the community altogether.
I enjoyed this Amish story and read it every chance I could. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series and I’m also going to back up and read the first.
