The Last Bride Book by Beverly Lewis a Review

The Last Bride by Beverly LewisAbout the Book: We’re back in Hickory Hollow. Tessie Miller is the last daughter of her Old Order parents to marry. She has her heart set on Amishman Marcus King, but Tessie’s father opposes the match.

Impetuously, Tessie and Marcus elope to the English world, then return to Hickory Hollow to live as singles, trusting they’ll convince the Millers to give their love a chance over time. But when the unthinkable happens, Tessie faces the almost-certain censure of the People. Will she find a reason for hope in spite of her desperate plight?

My Thoughts: I’ve read most of Beverly Lewis’ books and had been reading through the Home of Hickory Hollow series. I think it helps to be familiar with the community.

At first I was very frustrated that Tessie’s father seemed so hard hearted. As I read on his reasoning becomes more apparent and I understood his misgivings.

I was also frustrated that Tessie kept such a secret even when things became so fragile for her. Sometimes keeping secrets locked up so hard and tight can really be detrimental.

You know I don’t like to give anything away in my reviews so if you like clean Amish fiction you will like this book. This was a bittersweet story with a nice ending.
