Put Your Homemaking Binder Together – Bills and Budget {series) 5

This entry is part 5 of 9 in the series Put Your Homemaking Binder Together

Put-Together-Home-BinderIntroductionI did a version of this series a year ago in tandem with a book review I had done on Renee Metzler’s books Total Home Makeover. You can read the review here.

I’ve since updated the series to be a simple primer on putting together your Homemaking Binder for a new and organized 2014.

I’ve added all the forms you’ll need to complete the series here in my free downloads section but if you’re ready to take it a step further and fully outfit your Homemaking Binder you can view my more feminine printables, checklists, forms, and ebooks at Well Kept Binders.

Welcome back!
How is your homemaking binder coming? Are you using it? A Homemaking Binder is only effective if you use it. You will get as much out of it as you put into it.
If you don’t already have a home for your binder spend some time this week thinking of one. Find a place in your home, that you pass by throughout the day often, where it can set opened to the day’s chores or your daily to do list. Keep your pencil or pen nearby to jot in any notes you need to.
Some find a nice spot on the kitchen counter works well for this. A small desk. A cleared off bookshelf. All that matters is that it works for you.
Today we’re talking about Bill Paying and the Monthly Budget Sheet
I use a Simple Bill Paying form to keep on top of the monthly bills. I use it to list all the bills paid monthly or every other month or even at some time during the year. How much is due and if the exact due date is known that is listed too.
A Bill Paying form is a good form to keep in a plastic sleeve so you can mark off your bills as you pay them each month. Then wipe off at the beginning of each month to start anew.
Another form is a Monthly Budget Sheet. This sheet shows money coming in and money going out. This is a good way to keep track of your spending.
Another optional printable you might want to keep in here is a Savings Plan. It doesn’t need to be big and you don’t need to sock away thousands a month (unless you are able) but even a very little amount can add up to something big so do think about creating a Savings Plan.

Keep these Simple Bill Paying form and Monthly Budget Sheets in the Finances Section of your Binder. In otherwords, behind a Finances Divider. As you pay bills and manage your income this is the section you will turn to. It can also help to keep a folder in this section. That way you can keep the bills, and bill paying sheets all together.

Knowing your income and your expenses is the first step towards paying off financial debt.
