I’m taking the bull by the horns so to speak. I haven’t been getting along with breakfast for some time and I aim to rework that this year. Join me in my quest to find 52 Fresh Breakfast Ideas that don’t leave me feeling heavy or my family still hungry. We may revisit dishes you already know or find some new favorites but my goal for 2014 is a new appreciation for breakfast.

Welcome back to 52 Weeks of Fresh Breakfast Ideas. This week’s post is sort of a takeoff from last week’s breakfast post. Simply because my husband enjoyed what we made so much he’s been asking for it daily.

Grocery Bags with Food

Last week we made butter soaked biscuits from the From Scratch ebook. They are delicious and have that slightly soured taste you get with bread dough that is allowed to ferment a bit. We used a little bit of white flour in our whole wheat flour simply because that is what we had on hand.

The recipe we were intending to make from our biscuit dough was Pull Apart Bread. I think some people call it Monkey Bread, or Break Away Bread but we’ll call it Pull Apart Bread.

This is a sweet recipe perfect for a sweet breakfast touch. It’s rather easy too which is nice.

The recipe called for canned biscuits but since we don’t buy those for two reasons…

1.) Soy. Simple. I’m allergic to soy. Those don’t cross the threshhold.

2.) I didn’t really become concerned with what goes in my body but when my daughter came along we look at everything.

So we made the biscuits and then the Pull Apart Bread Recipe from that.

This turned into a mother/daughter cooking session which is always nice and sweet. Cook with your children boys and girls. It’s such a nice time and you never know, maybe one day soon they can take over and you can kick your feet up in the living room while dinner is being prepared!

On a side note: When we were growing up my sister and I had a dinner night. My mom was so easy on us. One night a week we cooked the dinner. It was usually pre-made and awful but we did it. Boxed pizza, hamburgers, tacos from a mix. I’m lucky I survived my childhood.
