Touch Up Your Bathroom for Spring Print E-mail
Written by K Quinn

It's spring and that means cleaning and putting a new face on our homes. Spring Cleaning fever is in the air so let's look at how we can touch up our bathrooms but without....

  1. Spending a lot of time.

  2. Spending a lot of money.

A lovely bathroom can soothe and relax you as you prepare for the day or for the night. Clean surfaces, relaxing scents and items found where they should be will have you feeling as if you've been invited to a day at the spa.

Start at the Counter...

Are your countertops dirty and disorganized? Clear off the counter tops and group like items together in baskets. All your hair products in one small basket. Combs and brushes in another. Facial products in another. Chances are you have a few unused ones not being used around the house. Both wicker and plastic look good. Be even more chic and use glass where children won't have easy access to it. Place smaller containers on a tray. Then scrub the sinks, countertop and mirrors. Polish the faucets. Leave them sparkling.

Linens and such...

Is it time to invest in some new towels and bath rugs? This is a fairly inexpensive way to give your bathroom a new look. Bath towels, hand towels, washcloths and a new bathroom rug all in new springy colors. White is a favorite for decorating and cleaning professionals alike. As long as you wash them correctly they will look nice the longest. Don't use fabric softener with your towels. It reduces their absorbability. Throw in a new shower curtain for a full effect. Use the old towels for pet towels or cleaning rags.

Accents...

If you have a window in your bathroom consider adding a plant for a very nice fresh accent. Make sure to keep it out of the way of flying toothpaste and the like. If you have window pick up a low cost silk plant and remember to dust it regularly by putting it in paper bag with rice and shaking lightly to dislodge dust. If you think you can remember to change them regularly fresh flowers are even better but of course more expensive.

Aromatherapy...

A lovely scent in you bathroom is very pleasing and inviting. Plug in diffusers, battery operated diffusers, and reed difussers are nice scent diffusers where you won't have to worry about a flame. Use clean scents, green scents, or scents such as lemon verbena, or lavendar.

Keeping it Clean...

And finally put your bathroom on a cleaning schedule. Make it a point to clean it thoroughly at least once a week for a daily use bathroom. And once a week for a guest bathroom.
