Get your home organized in August. These monthly home organizing checklists will have you feeling organized by month's end! A simple, easy to do, homemaking chore for each day of the month.

____ Aug 1 Make a special trip to a local farmer’s market or roadside fruit and veggie stand. There truly is no better time of the year but right now to enjoy the freshness of the season.

____ Aug 2 Try a new recipe using the fresh produce of the season.

____ Aug 3 Wipe and dust off all lamp shades in the house.

____ Aug 4 When was the last time you cleaned your coffeemaker out? Run a pot of white vinegar through a brew cycle. Follow this with at least 3 cycles of plain water to remove all traces of vinegar. Many coffee pots can be thrown into the dishwasher.

____ Aug 5 Return 3 borrowed items to their rightful owners.

____ Aug 6 Look at your DVD or CD collection. Are there any movies or CD’s you no longer want, listen to, or enjoy? Can some of these be passed on for others to enjoy.

____ Aug 7 Take an inventory of your child(ren)’s closets and school supplies. Make a Back-to-School Shopping List.

____ Aug 8 Empty out all your email inboxes and also remember to clear/delete your trash bins.

____ Aug 9 Enjoy a date night with a special person; it doesn’t have to be expensive if you are creative. Some flavored popcorn and a movie can make a great night or a picnic in the backyard.

____ Aug 11 Call an old friend that you haven’t spoken to in a long time, just to say “Hi!”

____ Aug 12 Grab the window cleaner and clean all mirrors and TV screens in the house.

____ Aug 13 Clean your toothbrush holder and get new toothbrushes for the entire family.

____ Aug 14 Dust off and organize one bookshelf in your house.

____ Aug 15 Pets truly are members of the family; make sure they are up to date with their vaccinations and check-ups. If not schedule them an appointment. ____ Aug 17 Take the time to look at your documents on the computer. Can you find what you are looking for? Is everything organized into folders, in a logical manner much like a filing cabinet/system? Set up at least 3 new folders.

____ Aug 18 Pull out your desk, and vacuum all the dust bunnies. Pay special attention to make sure you wipe down your computer wires which also attract dust.

____ Aug 19 Find some extra “ME” time today, arrange a sitter if needed. You can always exchange a day of babysitting with another neighborhood mom or friend. Enjoy a nice glass of ice cold lemonade while spending some time in the sun, or enjoy some time reading a good book or magazine.

____ Aug 20 Recycle all old newspapers in your house.

____ Aug 21 Deep clean your shower until it shines and sparkles.

____ Aug 22 Clean and replace any old or dirty cosmetics brushes (which can get clogged with makeup and oils).

____ Aug 23 Strip and re-make your bed, while remembering to flip your mattress to ensure even wear on the mattress.

____ Aug 24 Take 5 minutes and chop ice and a few slices of citrus (such as orange, lime, or lemon) into your garbage disposal to clean it out. You will appreciate the freshening that grinding the ice and citrus will provide.

____ Aug 25 Family Fun Day! Enjoy a day at the park, beach, local lake, amusement park, museum, or zoo. If going outside remember the sunscreen.

____ Aug 26 Check your camera before the holiday. Does it have film, is there room on your memory card, and are the batteries charged and ready to go?

____ Aug 27 Toss any socks that are missing their mates.

____ Aug 28 Make plans for a fun Labor Day with family and friends.

____ Aug 29 Throw out or even better yet, donate any old magazines (thrift stores, churches, daycares, schools, doctor’s offices, among others) will appreciate these items.

____ Aug 30 Check to make sure you have enough supplies for the upcoming holiday such as paper plates, napkins, cups, paper towels, pop, chips, and any other ingredients for a special dish.

____ Aug 31 Walk around the house and write down any repairs that need to be made. While doing this jot down your fall cleaning list. Pick one item to do today.
