Your Home Organizing Checklist for September 2009. Get your home organized this month!
___ Sep 1 Make sure you have all back to school supplies for the kids bought, labeled, and ready to go. Locate a place to keep any extra supplies, such as pens, pencils,paper, glue, and scissors. ____ Sep 2 Make sure you have a rake and garbage bags to collect leaves in. Start clearing up debris from your yard. Instead of bagging up the leaves right away, take a few minutes to enjoy them and jump in them. ____ Sep 3 September is National Preparedness Month. Create a Family Emergency Kit that includes items such as canned foods, bottled water, a can opener, first aid items, extra prescriptions, candles, flashlights, and batteries. Make sure you are also prepared for your pets also. ____ Sep 4 Do an inventory of your home office supplies. Replenish staples, sticky notes, paper clips, or anything else that's running low since many of these products will still be on sale because of back to school. ____ Sep 5 Enjoy the last of summer by enjoying some time outside in the sun with family and friends. There are many activities you could take part in, including; a game of Frisbee or baseball, a bike ride, barbeque, flying a kite,jump rope, hopscotch, or just a walk in the outdoors. ____ Sep 6 Grab the window cleaner and wipe down all mirrors and TV screens in your house. ____ Sep 7 Weed out any stained, torn, no longer fitting,or not worn summer clothing. Do not keep these items. Either donate or trash them. ____ Sep 8 Shop for any bulbs wanted for your outdoor gardens. Order from online, a catalogue, or by visiting a garden center. ____ Sep 9 Clean out your car; get the kids involved by washing the outside with a sponge, some soap, and the hose. While you work on the inside; clean out any junk/garbage,vacuum the seats and floor, and wipe the inside of the windows. ____ Sep 1 0Donate at least one kitchen appliance you no longer use.

____ Sep 11 Take a moment today to stop and remember the events of today. Pray for the soldiers and their families. ____ Sep 12 Return 3 borrowed items from family or friends. ____ Sep 13 Fill your bird feeders for your outdoor feathery friends who are migrating. ____ Sep 14 Discard any old cosmetics since they harbor bacteria and oils. Check your purse, bedroom, and bathroom. Check expire dates, for example, mascara expires about 3 months after it is opened. ____ Sep 15 Order, buy, or start making your Christmas cards now. There is 101 days until Christmas, so if you started addressing your cards now, you would be done well before the Christmas rush.

____ Sep 16 Clean out your coffee maker. Run white vinegar and water through it and rinse thoroughly. ____ Sep 17 Toss any unopened or junk mail. ____ Sep 18 Start preparing a Christmas gift list; make sure to include sizes and colors of specific items. Make sure you prepare a budget for each person and stick to it. ____ Sep 19 Donate or sell 3 books or magazines to the library, a local charity, a hospital waiting room, or a school. ____ Sep 20 Launder all heavy blankets, quilts, and sheets so they will be ready to make the bed as soon as the frost hits. ____ Sep 21 Toss any old socks that are missing their mates.

Make sure you involve all members of your family especially kids in this donation and explain why you are doing it. ____ Sep 24 Clean out your leaf blower and snow blower and get them serviced and ready to go. ____ Sep 25 Deep clean your oven and burners until they sparkle and shine. ____ Sep 26 Recycle any old newspapers. ____ Sep 27 Plan and enjoy a family movie or game night.
