Your April 2010 Home Organizing Checklist.
____ Apr 1 Plan on fooling someone today or watch out getting fooled yourself. Happy April Fool’s Day! ____ Apr 2 Hang baseball caps on cap racks or on hooks in your closet. Then, enjoy the new baseball season by watching a game on television or by going to a local game. America’s favorite pastime is a sure sign of Spring! ____ Apr 3 Clean your windows so you can observe all the beautiful colors of the season. ____ Apr 4 Today is Easter Sunday. It is time for many people to go to religious services with their families. If you are not religious, take the day and spend quality time with your family--just enjoying this season of renewal. ____ Apr 5 Find a couple of books on poetry to enjoy or try your hand at writing a poem. ____ Apr 6 Save a life and give blood. Every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs a blood donation. Take an hour out of your day to give blood. ____ Apr 7 If you are planning a vacation this summer, start planning out the details. ____ Apr 8 Now is the perfect time to repot houseplants. Take them out of their pots and check the roots. If they are root bound, repot with fresh potting soil in a larger pot. ____ Apr 9 Open windows and let in some fresh air, especially those rooms that have been closed up for months. ____ Apr 10 Learn something new today. Toss old socks that no longer have mates or old, worn undergarments. ____ Apr 13 Check through your book collection today. See if there are a few books you can give away or donate to doctors’ offices, shelters, etc. ____ Apr 14 Wash summer linens. Clean and air out blankets, throws and other items. ____ Apr 15 If you have not yet completed your taxes, they are due today (USA)! If needed, an extension can be filed. Pick out a few items that you have not worn in over six months. Put them in your donation box. ____ Apr 17 Have you deleted email messages lately or are they piling up? Take some time to do purging. ____ Apr 18 Make special time for you today. Take a relaxing bubble bath or watch a favorite movie. Do whatever makes you happy. ____ Apr 19 Go through at least one dozen file folders in your home office and weed out unneeded and outdated paperwork. Shred any paperwork containing confidential information. ____ Apr 20 Now is a good time to clean the carpets after a long winter. Rent a carpet steamer or call a professional. ____ Apr 21 It is not too late to recommit to your fitness goals. Buy a new pair of athletic shoes. Sign up for swimming, tennis, golf or other activity. Recycle, drink from a reusable water bottle, etc. If you are already doing a number of things to help the environment, look up new ways to incorporate “being green” into your regimen. ____ Apr 23 Check your major appliances for wear and tear. The coils of the refrigerator should be vacuumed. Accumulated lint needs to be cleaned from the dryer vents. Examine hoses for damage. Clean out accumulated gunk from your oven and refrigerator. ____ Apr 24 Schedule a family garage clean out. Plan on creating efficient space for sporting goods, camping equipment, garden tools and other items you store in your garage. ____ Apr 25 In anticipation of summer entertaining, clean your patio and outdoor furniture. ____ Apr 26 Empty and clean out the insides of the utensil drawers in your kitchen. ____ Apr 27 Clean out your handbag today. Clean out extra change, receipts and anything else that might have been in your purse that needs to be put away or tossed. ____ Apr 28 File and organize your hard copies of pictures or your digital pictures. ____ Apr 29 Take down the shower curtain and wash according to care instructions. ____ Apr 30 Check over your first aid kit to see if there is anything you need to replenish.
