Your Home Organizing Checklist for April 2011.


____ Apr 1 It is April Fool's Day. Create a new habit today. Keep in mind it takes 21 days of doing that new habit before
it sticks.

____ Apr 2 Summer is almost here. Go through your summer wardrode and weed out anything you don’t plan to wear. Begin
getting your plans for summer vacation in place. Have your car serviced if you plan to take road trips.

____ Apr 3 Now is a good time to shop seasonal sales. Digital cameras, computers and lawn mowers are a few of the
items that go on sale this time of year.

____ Apr 4 If you have not completed your 2010 income taxes, do them today. Make an appointment with your accountant if
necessary.

____ Apr 5 Save a life. April is National Donate Life Month. Giving blood is something that does not take long to do and
will help save lives.

____ Apr 6 Clean all the windows in your home, inside and out.

____ Apr 7 Schedule family time to clean out the garage. Put your thinking cap on and write some notes regarding
efficient storage for your sporting goods, camping equipment, garden supplies, and so on.

____ Apr 8 Inspect, clean and repair outdoor furniture for upcoming summer entertaining.

____ Apr 9 Check the air conditioner. Vacuum the grill. Change filter if needed. Make an appointment for a service
call if needed.

____ Apr 10 Record how much sleep you’re getting each night for the next two weeks. At that time, analyze your results.
If not, determine what you can do to ensure you’re getting at least seven hours for optimum health.

____ Apr 11 Clean out your e-mail inbox. Challenge yourself to end up with zero email messages in this box. If you have hundreds of messages, shoot for half. Get yourself in the habit of cleaning out email on a regular basis.

____ Apr 12 Go shopping for something you need. Help build the economy in your area by purchasing items and/or services at locally owned businesses.

____ Apr 13 Update your resume. It is important to always have an up-to-date resume on file, especially if you are
considering looking for a new job in the near future. Also, make sure to update your profiles on websites, like LinkedIn.

____ Apr 14 Tour your home's exterior and grounds. Make a list of needed seasonal maintenance. Then, schedule those
tasks on your calendar, or call a professional to take care of these items.

____ Apr 15 Take time for yourself today. Do something that you want to do, that you’ve been putting off.

____ Apr 16 Clean out your garden area. Start planning for this year’s plants and flowers.

____ Apr 17 Put away winter clothes and coats. Are there are any items you would like to donate? If so, put them in your
Donation Box (you do have one, right?!) If anything need to be cleaned or repaired, put in a separate pile for getting this task done.

____ Apr 18 Taxes are due today. Because of the recent tax changes, the IRS changed the due date in 2011. Be sure to
send them in today or get an extension.

____ Apr 19 Clean out one area in your garage. Then, get your bike out of the shed, dust it off and get it tuned up
for another year of riding.

____ Apr 20 Check bulletin boards and note centers around your house and office. Purge outdated memos, fliers, etc.

____ Apr 21 Call a friend or relative today that you have not talked to in a long time.

____ Apr 22 Today is a great day to look at ways you can better take care of the planet around you. This National Earth Day is a day to celebrate recycling, reducing and reusing.

____ Apr 23 April is Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month. Take time to become familiar with this topic so you do not become a victim. Share what you’ve learned wit
others.

____ Apr 24 Celebrate Easter by doing something with your loved ones and enjoy each other's company.

____ Apr 25 Do a sock and underwear purge. Get rid of items that are worn out. Replace as needed.

____ Apr 26 Check the expiration dates on your sunscreen products. Replace if any are past their prime.

____ Apr 27 It is Administrative Professionals Day. The International Association of Administrative Professionals
(IAAP) is veering away from the traditional celebration of the day. The recession has hit everyone in the office.
Downsizing has forced everyone to pull together and work harder. Today is the day to recognize the hard work and
sacrifice from everyone.

____ Apr 28 Empty out and go through the contents of your kitchen cabinets. If you have not used something in a year
or more, donate it.

____ Apr 29 Take a long walk in the country. Take a look at all the trees in the area, their beauty and how they benefit
the earth. On this Arbor Day, consider planting a tree in your area.

____ Apr 30 Organize your book shelves. Then, check out a new bestseller or other novel that interests you and enjoy!
