Here is your monthly checklist for June 2011.
____ Jun 1 Take down the curtains in one room and wash them.
If you have mini-blinds they can be washed in the bathtub.
____ Jun 2 Examine your rose bushes for bugs. Also, pay
attention to signs of disease and treat if found.
____ Jun 3 Give your dishwasher a good cleaning. Add vinegar
to the soap dispenser and run an empty cycle. Give the door
seal and the outside a good wipe down too.
____ Jun 4 When did you last clean your thermos? Add a
tablespoon each of salt and vinegar, close the lid and shake
well. Empty and rinse with hot water.
____ Jun 5 Do you know which breaker switch is for which
room/area/appliance in your home? Take the time with a
partner to figure that out and label each breaker as you
find the location. This will save time and frustration later
____ Jun 6 Are you a fan of dahlias? Now is the time to
plant for beautiful flowers later in the summer.
____ Jun 7 Do you find yourself running back and forth for
cleaning supplies, or overloaded trying to carry everything
from room to room? Using a bucket or box, set up a cleaning
caddy stocked with your usual cleaning supplies.
____ Jun 8 When did you last clean out your car? Give it a
good cleaning, including the windows.
____ Jun 9 Are you in an area that is prone to hurricanes?
This is a good time to check out your emergency supplies and
restock where necessary. You'll be thankful in the event of
a storm.
____ Jun 10 Is your email inbox overrun? Take time to clean
it out. Don't forget to empty out your sent items folder
too.

____ Jun 11 Use a power washer on your deck to give it a
good cleaning after all the spring rain.
____ Jun 12 Take down your shower curtain liner and run it
in the washer with a small amount of detergent, white
vinegar and a towel (helps the scrubbing) and then hang it
back on the shower rod to dry.
____ Jun 13 Crumbs in your keyboard? Use a brush attachment
on your vacuum to clean it out. While you have the brush,
use it to clean the vent on the back of the computer.
____ Jun 14 Raise the flag today to commemorate Flag Day!
____ Jun 15 Before the weather gets really hot, make sure
your air conditioning unit is functioning correctly. Now is
the time to call for service if necessary.
____ Jun 16 Have you ever checked to make sure your
refrigerator door closes fully? To do this, put a piece of
paper between the door and the fridge and tug on the paper.
If it pulls out easily, it's time to replace your seal.
____ Jun 17 Planning a 4th of July party? Time to finalize
plans and confirm with guests. Plan your shopping and tackle
it a little at a time around sales to minimize expenses.
____ Jun 18 Do you have excess household goods and clothing?
Organize a yard sale. Involve your children by having them
sell lemonade, bottled water and/or cookies.
____ Jun 19 Treat the special man in your life to a special
dinner to celebrate Father's Day.
____ Jun 20 Try a new summer recipe for dinner tonite.

____ Jun 21 To celebrate the first day of summer, fix a
picnic for the entire family. Enjoy it at a local park.
____ Jun 22 Clean out your purse and/or wallet. Get rid of
all of those gum wrappers and old receipts. Evaluate whether
you really need to carry all that you do and if possible,
lighten your load.
____ Jun 23 When did you last replace your toothbrushes? If
you can't remember then it's time to replace them. Give your
toothbrush holder a good cleaning before putting the new
brushes in.
____ Jun 24 Fertilize your plants. An easy way to do this is
to purchase fertilizer stakes and stick them into the ground
all around your garden.
____ Jun 25 Do you have lots of catalogs around? Time to
recycle any that are more than one season old, or that you
can access online.

____ Jun 26 Going on vacation later this summer? Make
reservations and travel plans now. Contact the Chamber of
Commerce at your destination for interesting local
attractions. Even if you aren't leaving town, contact your
local Chamber for interesting attractions in your home town.
____ Jun 27 When making dinner tonight, double up and put
the extras in the freezer for a busy night ahead. You'll
appreciate the convenience and savings later when it's
handy.
____ Jun 28 Wipe down the shelves on the inside of your
refrigerator door. They can get sticky from various jars and
containers.
____ Jun 29 Do you have hard water? If so, chances are that
you have lime scale build-up on drain plugs and chrome
fixtures. Use white wine vinegar to clean, or a wedge of
lemon. Rinse with water and dry with a clean cloth.
____ Jun 30 Has it been awhile since you vacuumed under the
furniture? Pick a room and move the furniture to vacuum
under it. You might try a new furniture arrangement while
you are moving furniture around for a bit of a change this
summer.
