Here is your Home Organizing Checklist for October 2011

___Oct 1 Do an autumn cleaning.

___Oct 2 If you don't have a carbon monoxide dector get one.

___Oct 3 Shred excess yard leaves to use as mulch as the winter weather rolls in.

___Oct 4 Change your dining table centerpiece to reflect fall.

___Oct 5 Give you washing machine and cleaning. Add a cup of vinegar to a hot water wash (no clothing or soap). This will clean out hard water residue.

___Oct 6 Get out your slow cooker for soups and stews.

___Oct 7 Clean up your email inbox.

___Oct 8 Treat your leather shoes for the rainy weather (if you live in a wet climate area)

___Oct 9 Use an old toothbrush and clean around the faucet areas in all the sinks in your home.

___Oct 10 Clean and pack away fans. Remove the dust from the blades and if possible pull off the base so they are easier to store.

___Oct 11 Check smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors

___Oct 12 Rotate or Turn your mattresses this month.

___Oct 13 Exercise. Really. It's good for you. All you need is a 15 minute walk. But if you can make it more that’s great!

___Oct 14 Start your holiday preparations. Plan meals and order any special items you may need.

___Oct 15 Give your hands a treatment. If you've been working hard they are probably in need of some tlc. Trim your nails, rub some oil into the cuticles and smooth on some rich lotion.

___Oct 16 Spruce up your meal planning. Add in some new meals or test out one of the many available programs.

___Oct 17 Take advantage of end of summer sales. Pick up sandals, t-shirts etc for next year.

___Oct 18 Do a craft or bake some cookies with your children.

___Oct 19 Have your car tires checked. You'll be glad you did when the cold weather hits.

___Oct 20 Try a new recipe.

___Oct 21 Review your budget. Start with the grocery bill.

___Oct 22 Plant your spring bulbs.

___Oct 23 Check your emergency preparedness kit. Add a hand crank flashlight and radio if you don't have on in there.

___Oct 24 Do you have leftover garage sale items that didn't sell? Donate them to charity. Remove the clutter.

___Oct 25 Send a "thinking about you" card to a friend.

___Oct 26 Dust. If you haven't done it in a while get at it. If you've been keeping up with dusting dust the ceilings and front and back porch ceilings.

___Oct 27 Get a fire extinguisher if you don't already have one.

___Oct 28 Did your candles get little use during summer? Clean off the dust with a little denatured alcohol.

___Oct 29 Wear your apron

___Oct 30 Sweep off your front porch.

___Oct 31 Take a deep breath. The holiday season is officially here!
