Being organized is very rarely a skill we are born with. Those who have it learned it one way another in childhood or adulthood.
To have more peace and time at home it is necessary to be organized.
This word “organized” can mean different things to different people depending upon the family situation.
Start now in getting those home processes together.
Inventory and organize the pantry and the freezer. The end result should be at least a week’s worth of quick fix meal ideas and three already prepared for the freezer.
Set up a system for working through the laundry. Never wake up to a wet load in the washer again. Time how long it takes for a load to wash and to dry. Pinpoint times in your day when it would be best to load, unload, and fold the laundry to put away.
Set up a welcoming and organized entrance to your home. Have a place for coats, umbrellas, bags, and shoes (messy ones). A drop off for keys, phones, and mail.
Streamline your bill paying processes. Handle the bills as they come in the door. Open them, note the due date, and place them in the spot to be paid. Once paid put the resulting paperwork in the file.
Start working with your children to help out in the home. In the beginning, whether young or old, this can be a long and sometimes draining chore. But the end result is SOOOO worth it.
Find another spot in your home that quickly becomes a cluttered eyesore and deal with it. For example my sore point is no longer the dining table it is now the kitchen island. In a small home this space is a breaking point between the living room and kitchen and quickly becomes cluttered with...mail, toys, cooking implements, and the like. My sister has an identical setup and laid down a “no dump” policy in her home. Mail goes immediately to the office. Cooking is cleaned up asap. I need to get serious like her.
Happy Get Organized Month!
