Your home organization binder is not just for tracking things inside the home. Keep track of your out of doors also. Today we’ll discuss keeping a section for gardening in your binder.

Who would have thought. All that growing stuff outside needs a bit of planning in order to be really fruitful and beautiful?

Believe me I have tried to have an annual vegetable garden without a bit of planning and thing just get confused. It makes sense to plan. Then I know what I already have on hand. What I need to order. When I need to plant what and where. And let’s not forget knowing what will come from miles away to feast on my lovely veggies.

So here is a list of some important organizing forms you might want to add to the gardening section of your home organizer.

Garden Planning: Have a sheet for planning your garden. Where it will be and how big. Graph paper works well for this because then you can have a small scale diagram of what your garden will look like.

What was planted When: More like a spreadsheet this is a list of what you have growing in your garden. The When date will be good in future years as you can look back and see when the optimal time for planting an item is.

What was planted Where: Do some plants need more sun? More shade? Another list that will help in the future when you look at results of how an plant grew. My tomatoes like the east part of my porch better than the west.

What didn’t work: Sometimes a plant does not work out and you want that information in case you aim to try again. Corn in a pot on my porch did NOT work. Don’t ask.

What did work: Hey! What were your gardening winners? Onions in a raised bed grew nice for us last year. The year before onions planted by seed did not work for many many reasons and number one is because I am a novice.

Pest Management (that works): You definitely want this list. Copper deters slugs. Diatomaceous earth can take care of many things. Neem oil stops reproduction and may not necessarily kill your buggies outright (my experience).

Gardening Goals: A simple sheet explaining what you would like to get out of your garden. My goal is to have fresh veggies for the dinner table, the freezer, and to share.

Happy Gardening!

Did you know that everything new was once old? At least when it comes to gardening. I'm perusing this valuable resource right now and find it to be a treasure trove. It's all the information I have found in the many gardening books I keep checking out.
