A Homemaking Diary - Keeping Track Print E-mail
Written by K Quinn

It happens to the best of us. Sometimes we feel in a funk. Nothing seems to be getting done, whether around the home or even at work. It’s times like this when a Homemaking Diary may help you zero in on what’s keeping you from getting things done and even motivate you step it up a bit.

Geared to help motivate you and get you back on track if you’re in a homemaking funk this idea is a little different from a Homemaking Journal or Household Notebook.  The concept is simple.  You take a cute little blank book, notepad or stack of blank paper. And each day you jot down your feelings and accomplishments.
For example...

Monday

  • Got up late, made beds and had breakfast with kids. Try setting alarm half an hour earlier.
  • Homeschooling started while I cleaned bathrooms.
  • Did a load of laundry and then did crafts with kids.
  • Lunch...I’ve got to come up with better ideas for lunch.
  • Jotted down reminder to call tax guy
  • Baby down for a nap, got some business work done...Finally!
  • Dinner is easy, tacos

This is a nice simple example. Could be my day. Part of it actually is.

The process of jotting down your activities has a twofold effect. On the one hand you can find times in your when you seem to be struggling with productivity and maybe reorganize your schedule. And the simple act of keeping track of your days inspires you to accomplish more.  You may find yourself much more productive just because you are keeping track.

Just a thought.
