Emmie makes a promise to her friend that, if fulfilled, could mean the end to her dreams of a future with Isaac.
Emmie Croftner let Isaac Liddle go to avoid telling him about her past. But Isaac remains determined to win Emmie’s heart and hand. Though Emmie resolves to keep her heart in check, it hurts when she sees that another woman has set her bonnet for Isaac.
Then Emmie’s dear friend extracts a costly promise: if anything happens to her in childbirth, Emmie will marry her widower and raise the baby herself. And it seems Emmie may have to fulfill that promise. But can she live happily without Isaac?
My Review: In this installment the focus shifts over to Emmie and her tenuous situation. She’s been sorely used and sees no hope for her future. Isaac comes to care more and more for Emmie and I found myself routing for him. We even have an unwelcome visitor, or maybe she’s not visiting, that we thought we were done with show up again.
This next installment in the Journey of the Heart series is short and sweet. Remember these are novellas so they go quick. Just when you’re getting into it it’s over. Kind of like a mini-series. I do wish it were longer but I’m enjoying the story and the journey. There is so much more to know about Emmie and Isaac and their back stories. Oh well. Thankfully there is another installment coming soon.
