My Review of The Elusive Miss Ellison
So you really don’t want to mention other author’s work when reviewing a book but I have to so bear with me. Although I was reminded of Pride and Prejudice with this novel it really stood on it’s own as a good story. There were a few similarities but I didn’t feel like I was reading a recap (as with some novels).
To give this novel credit do note that I was not into the Regency (era) mode when I started reading but by chapter two I was deeply engrossed. The Elusive Miss Ellison got harder to put down with each chapter.
While the story was good it wasn’t perfect (as nothing is). I kind of felt that Ms. Miller’s characters could have been a little more developed. Both Nathaniel and Miss Ellison have some background situations that, while kind of explored, could have been developed further to give us a better idea of their personalities. That is my only gripe.
Miss Miller also had some interesting side characters and perhaps they will come up in a future book (a little birdie tells me this was just book 1). The Elusive Miss Ellison is book one of the Regency Brides: A Legacy of Grace series.
I was sorry to put this down and if you like (clean) Regency era fiction you will enjoy The Elusive Miss Ellison too.
