Chartreuse Green coupled with a dusty blue is one my favorite grouping of colors. It’s so fresh and green!
But when Fall comes around and Thanksgiving is just around the corner I can’t seem to get enough of golden hues, browns, creams, and oranges.
Cooler temperatures and stunning evening views are inspiring for setting just the right table for your gathering.
Holidays Ideas for Thanksgiving Home Decor from Zazzle.com
In year’s past we’ve served our Thanksgiving dinner on a table festooned with a seasonal table cloth. While this was fine it secretly grated on my nerves.
Finally this year, after 18 years of this, I was able to sand and finish our dining table for a more relaxed/natural (I think) look.
And so this year I wanted to pay more attention to my Holiday Table Decor. With the addition of the table cloth I usually felt anything more was overkill.
This year I like to think that something as simple as a table runner can just bring everything together so nicely.
The History of Table Runners
Table runners came about in the Middle Ages as a way to keep tablecloths a bit cleaner. Those middle agers were a bit sloppy at the dining table. Today the table runner has evolved into something to add that extra oomph to your dining experience. Used to bring a bit of softness to a bare table it can really be a lovely centerpiece in your Thanksgiving Decor.
My Custom Table Runner
For my holiday table I chose to create a custom table runner at Zazzle.com this year.
I pulled together several images courtesy of Cajoline Scrap and made something that goes with our laid back style. Using browns, golds, and oranges it goes perfectly across our simple dining room table.
The table runners are patterned on one side and the other side is a white backing. It didn’t include any washing instructions but I think maybe a cold wash, delicate dry would keep things looking perky.
I didn’t iron the table runner yet but I’m pleased with the look. I kinda wish I had added more gold but I might do another one. The key is having good images.
On the table runner images on Zazzle they show a pointed end. I haven’t figured out where that comes from as mine is straight across on both ends. It just fits my table. The runner comes in 3 sizes.
Zazzle.com has plenty of Holiday Table Decor made by some talented designers. And if you don’t find what you want you can always create your own.

Our sample (because we still do have several weeks to go) holiday table is decked with a custom table runner from Zazzle.com and trinklets (my name for them) from Joann’s (any craft store will do). The china is a wedding gift and the little tea light jars my daughter made from things around the house.
