July Blogging Challenge – Day 5 – Homeward Bound
So I don’t blog on Sundays. Sometimes though I’ll set up a post to go live on Sunday. That’s what I’ve done here.
Since tomorrow is Sunday and our theme for the day in the July Blogging Challenge (click the link at bottom to find out more) is Home I would like to combine the two and focus on what home is (or should be) to a Christian.
Ahem!
While I love my earthly home that the Lord has blessed me with it is my eternal home that I strive for.
Though I am not perfect nor do I profess to be that is a weight off of my shoulders. I can’t get to my eternal home through perfection but through following Christ even in the face of adversity or when it seems easier to do otherwise.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
~John 3:16
The way to eternal life is so simple but such a stumbling block for many. Simple belief and such a great reward.
How often have we been frustrated with our children because they have made something simple unnecessarily difficult because of their own stubborn will.
And though some may think the reward is only in the afterlife the truth is far from that. The peace of knowing that with God’s guidance you can make it through the ills (and they are ill indeed) this world has to offer.
And even though there are many who say they are Christian the fruit bares witness. It’s an easy thing to say but much harder to live by.
This is the part that makes many run the other way. There is no promise of perfect life here on earth but instead of light affliction. God never promises we will never go through anything but that He will carry us through and the trials and tribulations will seem as nothing compared the joy in eternal life.
And sometimes (yes sometimes) our light affliction could have been avoided had we followed God’s leading instead of our own. He will not always lead you to the big money, easiest way, most friends, really popular, winding path but down the straight and narrow where you look neither to the left nor to the right.
Now with all this talk of eternal life and my (and hopefully yours too) heavenly home don’t get any ideas that I plan on going anywhere soon. Remember today (tomorrow as I type this) is Sunday and our theme is Home 🙂
Have a Blessed Sunday !
