5 Days of Helping your child struggling in Math – Curriculum and Wrap Up

This entry is part 6 of 6 in the series 5 Days of Homeschool...

Welcome back to 5 Day of Homeschool… where members of the Schoolhouse Review Crew are sharing their Homeschooling insights.

Last week we talked about Out of the Books Math Learning and some more ways to make math fun.

When Multiplication comes along in the math family of concepts to learn that can really throw kids for a loop. Some struggle more than others and for those who don't quite get it there are a few tips and tricks to make it easier and fun.

  1. Use your fingers!: Yes that's right. When it comes to the multiples of 9 there is a neat trick you can use to find the answers to the questions “9 times X =”and it involves your fingers! Check out this video for a visual example.
  2. Target the Question is an online math program to help your child get a handle on Word Problems. We did a review a few years ago. Check out our review here.
  3. A+ Adaptive Placement Test was another Math program we reviewed. We really liked this program because it identified areas where your child might need help and closed that gap on those hurdles. Read our review here

Well that's a wrap for our 5 Days of Homeschool Math Tips. I hope some of this has been helpful and I'll be adding to these posts as new and exciting ways to conquer the Math struggles crosses my desk.

In the meantime be sure and visit all the great blogs that linked up with us this past week and our host The Schoolhouse Review Crew Blog.
