Beloved: Devotions for Young Women {Homeschool Review}
This Beautiful Devotional came at a time that I was actively searching for something special created just for young women to give as a gift to my young daughter. It was just the type of item I was hoping to find. Let’s dive in so I can give you all the details.
About Beloved: 365 Devotions for Young Women
The Beloved: 365 Devotions for Young Women is a year’s worth of thoughtfulness written by Lindsay A. Franklin. Taking a deeper look at various women of the Bible she gives thoughtful writings about what the women may have been going through or even thinking and how the young woman of today can learn from them and apply these truths to their lives
The little hardbound book measures in at 7 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ snd is 1 1/4″ thick. Small enough to tuck away in a backpack or shoulder bag.
The overall color theme of the devotional is a dusty rose hue with little flowers gracing the covers and also applied along the edges of each page. The inside pages are also tinted a very light pink and each day’s devotion is printed on one page. It also includes a delicate ribbon in a darker tint of the same dusty rose color to keep your place.
Inside Beloved Lindsay A. Franklin use a woman and her trouble or triumph to study each day. For example on Day 149 she discusses Manoah’s wife from Judges chapter 13, the mother of Samson, who entreated her husband to reach out to the man of God for help and guidance on how to raise their coming son (he wasn’t born yet). Manoah’s wife’s encouraging reminder to her husband to seek Godly counsel for such an important undertaking is a reminder for us to be humble and seek the counsel of Godly leaders. It’s not a bad thing to to pray and talk things over with those who can help you with Biblical wisdom.
This is just one of 365 Devotions.
Other women featured include…
- Ruth
- Naomi
- Mary the mother of Jesus
- Bathsheba
The topics covered are ones that my be on a young woman’s heart. Such as jealousy, God’s wisdom about a future spouse, using your gifts to serve God, and making hard decisions.
The devotional includes thoughtful notes to encourage, inspire, or teach young women through the lessons learned from the Bible and from women in the Bible. Each journal page begins with a scripture reading from the Bible. Then day’s study looks closer at the passage, the woman it features, and how it relates an issue the young reader may be be experiencing. Finally at the bottom of the page is space for young woman to write in her thoughts on the passage.
Thoughtful Devotions
My daughter is loving this devotional made just for her. As most young women she tends to really appreciate when something is created for this time in her life. As she enters the teen years she has lots of questions about making good choices and how to stay on the narrow path when the world around her is such a mess. While I do love the mother daughter bond that we have and the beautiful Godly friendships she has with friends and mentors, being able to dive into God’s Word on her own and keep personal notes on things on her heart is something she is particularly treasuring.
I can tell you that it has really touched her heart and been a huge blessing. She has been using it faithfully and I had to beg to get my hands on it for this review.
Beloved: 365 Devotions for Young Women would make a wonderful gift for a young woman.
