Want to make history come alive? Speaking of history have come to really enjoy and look forward to watching Drive Thru History® here in the Quinn home. Recently we were pretty excited to get the opportunity to review  Drive Thru History®  “Acts to Revelation” for you.

Drive Thru History is by Coldwater Media and narrated by Dave Stotts. Mr. Stotts is husband and homeschooling parent like us with a background in media and video production. He's a natural in front of the camera and it's his storytelling skills that bring these videos alive. He serves as tour guide and historian while driving through lands and places we usually only read about in textbooks. All to give you a bigger picture of what might have been going on at a particular time in history.

This time that particular era was the Biblical time of the first Christians as laid out in the Bible. From Acts to Revelation.

WHat's IN the Videos?

I wish I could write exactly what my husband said about these videos. He explained it much better than I can but I'm going to try.

For students of the Bible the information in these videos is wonderful. Dave is not giving you his ideas or his take on theology, rather he gives you a view into the lives and times when these passages of the Bible were written. You get a better idea of how people lived, the climate, the politics, and mindset. How people thought, what the area was like, political climate, viewpoints of people, and traditions. History comes alive.

The wealth of historical information in each video is almost mind boggling! We were impressed as usual. Dave skillfully weaves Bible scriptures with historical facts of the times to give you a well rounded idea of the era. It's just so well done. I love this!

The Adventures are visually appealing and engrossing. Dave has a gift with bringing the time period to life while driving or walking through the historic lands of the Bible. Visual aids such as maps, reenactments, timelines, and even artwork couple with background music make it exiting and keep you engaged.

Dave also has a sense of humor and peppers each video with humor moments. He also features a car in each video. In Episode 2 of Disc 3 it was the Alpha Romeo which happened to be my dream car in college.

We even got a background history lesson on pizza! Yes that made us a bit hungry.

Each video is approximately thirty minutes and ends with suggested scripture readings.

The Drive Thru History Study Guide

In addition to the videos Drive Thru History Acts to Revelation comes with a Study Guide. Within the bound book each video has its own page which starts with a summary and then contains a series of questions that pertain to each episode. There is also suggested reading from the scriptures and historical tidbit.

The Study Guide also contains beautiful artwork.

Did I mention the artwork? Dave infuses both the videos and the hardbound study guide with paintings featuring scenes from the Bible.

Our Thoughts on Acts to Revelation

We loved this series and will be rewatching it pretty soon.

Usually my husband doesn't sit down with us to watch Drive Thru History. Too busy. He's usually at work or a meeting but this time we happened to putDrive Thru History®  “Acts to Revelation” on when he was around. We watched one episode, then another, then another, and another! It was sooo good! Dave made us think, opened our eyes, and entertained us all in one shot.
