The Pencil Grip Logo

I’ve heard it said that coloring can be soothing for some people so these past few weeks my daughter and I have been coloring using Magic Stix Washable Markers  by The Pencil Grip, Inc.

The Pencil Grip, Inc. also makes Finger Grips, Mess Free Tempera Paint, and Safe Scissors.

As part of the Homeschool Review Crew, we were invited to review the Magic Stix Washable Markers  and also test their #nocapnoproblem claim. That’s where you can leave the cap off for seven days and the pen won’t dry out! Read on to find out how we fared.

We received a 24 pack of the bright colored Magic Stix Washable Markers in a clear case with a handle. As of this post this same set is available on Amazon for $14.72 not including shipping.

How Did We Use Magic Stix

To test out the Magic Stix I happened to have a few coloring books on my computer just for adults.

I’ve read that coloring for adults is therapeutic, has a calming effect, reduces anxiety, and creates focus (I need that).

So I chose the busiest looking coloring page and asked my daughter if she would like to color with me. Nobody likes to color alone. Or do they…

For fun the Sweet Peanut and I sat at her former kiddie table and spent time together coloring this picture. We ended up coloring all over the room and the detailed coloring page took us much longer than we would have thought but it was a fun and nice bonding moment for us.

The picture is an outdoor scene with trees, flowers, and cute type bugs. I felt like this would give us a good opportunity to use most of the pens in the kit.

The Magic Stix colored well and were not strong in odor. In fact I thought they smelled slightly like tempera paint but it is very faint and not overpowering.

The tips were not super fine were slender enough to color in the little images on our page. The colors stayed bright throughout our week of coloring. I might frame this and put it up somewhere.

What do you think?

The No Cap No Problem Test

Meanwhile, we also tested the no cap guarantee with one of the brown pens in the kit.

Magic Stix guarantees that if the cap is left off of a pen it will not dry out for seven days!

I kept track of our progress on this test using Instagram. Every day I would color a little with the pen and mark the day. You can check it out here.

One of our concerns was that my husband was going to come by and put the cap on before we were finished. Well, he almost did so I had to let him in our experiment. True to advertising the pen did not dry out NOR color as if drying out. It worked the same day to day for seven days!

I think mothers will love the bright pretty colors of the Magic Stix Washable Markers because not only do they color well but they are washable. That’s not something we tested but that is one of the features of the markers. How many times has your toddler accidentally drawn on something? One of my close friends has a toddler who was forever getting into the markers around the house and drawing on everything! She had to have the carpets treated to get out the stains! I should send her a pack.

How about you? Would you like a pack of Magic Stix Washable Markers?
