Homeschool Weekly Wrap Up February 3, 2017

This week was all about tests in our homeschool.

The Sweet Peanut had a Math test, a Science Test, and a Social Studies quiz. Phew. She was burnt out by the end of the week so today is all about art. Since we're reviewing Creating a Masterpiece we're headed over to my mothers (a retired art teacher) to do the lessons with her. It will be fun for both of them.

In Social Studies aka Heritage Studies we also learned about Proverbs. What one is and some different ones.

Proverb ~ A brief, memorable staying that states a general truth of piece of advice.                       (I sort of mushed this definition from several ~Kemi)

One of the Sweet Peanut's projects was to draw her interpretation of the proverb. She doesn't draw much but this is what she came up with. You can see the proverb in the caption below the image.

Only a fool tests the depth of the water with both feet. Whatever accomplishment you boast of in the world there is someone better than you.

In Math we've moved from Geometry to Multiplying Decimals. The Sweet Peanut said it really helps when I go over he work texts with her each day. She gets a little trip up reading angles on a protractor. Does your child have a little trouble reading the protractor? This online protractor activity may be a big help for you.

After our Science test we moved on to Flor and Fauna. Just in time for gardening season. Even though the snow is still on the ground I've been planning my summer garden. Just thought I'd throw that out there. How about you? Any gardening plans?

In English I was treated to a report on how to make a play dough hamburger. My daughter loves play dough so this is what she used as her topic for How to Write Instructions. I thought her style here was unique. She didn't just make a series of round patties. She had some supportive structure going on there. We also worked on presentations and speaking in front of people.

Well today we're working on art and I'll tell you all about that next week.

Have a beautiful weekend!

  1. Bet she’s glad to have the tests and quizzes over! I think she did a great job illustrating that proverb, and I am looking forward to seeing the Masterpiece she’s working on today! Thanks for linking up at Homeschool Highlights!
