The Pencil Grip Ultra Safe Scissors and Pencil Grip Training Kit {Review}
My daughter may be 12 but I clearly remember the days when I would have loved to have some Ultra Safe Safety Scissors on hand.
I think of giving these scissors as gifts to busy moms like my neighbor whose inquisitive toddler recently was able to get a hold of some unsafe scissors and give herself a haircut!
The Ultra Safe Safety Scissors are for ages 3 and up. Each pair includes a plastic safety guard that covers the blade but still allows the paper to slip safely between the blades. If your child is on the younger end and needs some practice at closing and opening the scissors there is also a yellow spring attached that you can put into play. When opened it will spring to open the scissor blades back open.
We have little friends that come over several times a week. They love to do crafts. We add these safety scissors to our art supplies so they can have a safe tool to use for cutting things.

My daughter’s hands are still pretty small so she demonstrated these scissors for you below. Aren’t her hands cute?

We were also sent The 3 Step Pencil Grip Training Kit for better hand writing comfort.
This soft squishy set is designed to help learn to hold a pencil and then pen comfortably and with control. And it’s not just for children!
I remember back in the day working with The Sweet Peanut on learning to hold her pencil correctly. We had good instruction but a tool would have made it easier to get it across. She had some trouble finding a grip that was comfortable for her yet still allowed her to write too! It didn’t help that I’m left handed and she’s right handed.
With the 3 Step Pencil Grip Training Kit you get 3 rubber molded (latex and phthalate free) grips.
Grip #2 is the Transition Grip. The wings have been diminished and your child can see whether they are holding the pencil right or not.
Grip #3 is the final grip and the one to use once your child has mastered holding your writing tool correctly. It makes writing more comfortable and painless.
While the Sweet Peanut was able to write well including cursive and even calligraphy her fingers can cramp quickly because her grip has not been perfected. She took to the Pencil Grips right away feeling each to get the right fit for her. She prefers Grip #3 and it allows her to write comfortably while holding her pencil and pens correctly. But she still occasionally picks up Grip #1.
