When it comes to vitamins I’m in the camp of, “they are a good thing”. My 90+ year old grandmother introduced me to the healing properties of vitamins over 20 years ago when I broke out severely from a food allergy and found my immune system needed a reboot.
Pretty much everyone in my immediate and extended family takes vitamins. We have seen what good they can do so I was excited when Momsmeet selected us to review MegaFood’s new Kids Booster Powders
I am familiar with MegaFood because my husband and I both take their multi-vitamins for adults. Having a soy-allergy I discovered them several years ago and have found their products to be top notch.
MegaFood recently partnered with Kauai Organic Farms, Lundberg Family Farms (I know them because I buy their rice blends), and Uncle Matt’s Organic to create some kid-friendly powders that you can use in a variety of recipes to make sure even your pickiest of eaters is getting all their nutrients.
Kid’s are notorious for avoiding foods that are good for them. They can sniff them out like the best bloodhound so MegaFood came up with the idea of including these powders in various recipes.
MegaFood Kids Booster Powders are perfect for children who have difficulty swallowing, or who resist taking a multivitamin pills. They’re easy to digest and don’t cause stomach upset. I like that they’re tested free of gluten, dairy, especially soy, pesticides and herbicides. And MegaFood Powders contain NO sugars, sweeteners, flavorings, colorings or preservatives! These are ingredients that can vastly affect a child’s behavior.
We were given 3 supplements to try. These are for children 5 years and older.
- Kids Daily Multi: This was kind of an orangey color. The Kids Daily Multi includes the general 23 essential vitamins and minerals and also organic turmeric, carrots, fresh fruits.
- Kids Daily Immune: This was more reddish in color and includes oranges from Uncle Matt’s Organic and elderberry & echinacea which I already turn to when cold season hits.
- Kids Daily B-Centered: This was kind of green in color. It includes Lundberg Family Farms organic brown rice and is formulated to provide support for mental focus, cognitive function, and a sense of calm. This has a lot of B Vitamins.
We also received some recipe cards with recipes to use with the powders, a cute Vitamin Hiders booklet, and a reusable shopping bag.
Using the MegaFood Nutrient Powders
My daughter is no stranger to vitamins and was really excited to try these new products out. So there was no hiding needed for her. But in case you want to try them out I’ll post one of the recipes further down in the post.
The MegaFood Nutrient Booster Powders came right on time. My daughter and husband both came down with bad colds and I’ve been force feeding them soup, tea, and supplements for several days.
I decided to try out the Kids Daily Immune in a smoothie. I chose the Singing Canary concoction made famous by Trim Healthy Mama. This lemon infused drink is designed to boost your immune system and give you back the energy you may be lacking. It’s high in vitamin C by way of 2 lemons so I skipped the extra addition of vitamin C powder and used the MegaFood Kids Daily Immune Powder instead.
The jars for the Nutrient Powders are misleading. When you open a jar the powder is way down at the bottom. I guess that’s settling or something but it’s a teeny bit unnerving. Each jar carries 30 servings so I’m going with that. All three supplements included a little scoop so you measure the right amount.
The Kids Daily Immune added a slight vitaminey taste to the Singing Canary but when I swapped one orange for a lemon the whole mixture tasted good (I had to get a sip too so I could make sure it was made right).
We have some friends coming over to spend the day next week so my plan is (after checking with mom first of course) to make the no-bake Peanut Power Bars from the recipe that was included in our package using the B-Centered Nutrient Booster Powder.
Since I make lots of smoothies and usually separate out my portion before adding my vitamins I’m glad to find this so I can add her daily vitamins to her smoothie also.
There can be many reasons your child may need to take a daily Multi-Vitamin.
- A not so great diet.
- A picky eater who isn’t eating a balanced diet.
- A child on a vegetarian diet.
- Missing a nutrient or two because of allergies.
Check with your doctor.

Non-Strained Trim Healthy Mama Singing Canary With Orange
Ingredients
- 1 lemon
- 1 orange
- 1/2 cups water
- 1 teaspoon MCT Oil (or 1/2 teaspoon Coconut Oil)
- 1 teaspoon Whey Protein
- 1 teaspoon Integral Collagen
- 2 pinches Mineral Salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 teaspoons Super Sweet Blend (or stevia to taste)
- 2 scoops MegaFood Kids Daily Immune Booster Powder
- ice
Instructions
-
Peel the yellow rind off one lemon leaving the white pith on (that's the really healthy part). Now set those peels aside so you can freshen your home in a bit. Cut your lemon into four chunks (I actually cut it smaller than this ) and remove the seeds . Do the same with the orange. If you have trouble leaving the white behind just peel it all the way (I had trouble with the orange). Blend both fruits with 1 & 1/2 cups of water in your blender
-
Now at this time you would usually strain out all the pulp but we leave it in because we like it that way.
-
Next add all your other ingredients and blend really well.
-
Pour over ice and drink! I believe this is supposed to be sipped all day but it's so good we just "gunk it down".
