coming-week_optGreetings:

Today marks the first day of our back to school!

And you probably wondered how I managed to find the time to blog didn’t you?! Well it will probably be short and sweet but here goes.

In the School Room

Yaaay it’s back to school. Well okay not really yay but it is what it is.

We got the school room cleaned up last week which was really nice. But here I am around 10pm in the homeschool/craft room. And while I get ready for the new day it’s gotten a bit messy again. Well hopefully it will be ready for the AM.

Here are our plans for the first day of school

  • Take a walk. This is a new thing we want to do before school (and because I desperately need the extra exercise).
  • Have a healthy (not big but healthy breakfast.
  • Welcome our special guests (who happen to have a free day to share with us).
  • Barrel through school
  • Go out for dinner.
  • Somewhere in there I must get in my extra exercise. It’s a must.

Around the House

I recaulked the counter around the kitchen sink!!!! Woo hoo! This is big for me. Wish it weren’t that bright almond color but as far as I know they don’t make the good stuff in the exact color I really need. All that really matters is that it doesn’t look as gross as it did before I spent agonizing  minutes scraping that ick off and recaulking it. It’s now waterproofed and sealed again. Phew! I have to do our bathroom shower next and my husband wants me to touch up the shed next. He asked if I was hiring out????

We’ve updated our to-do list for the home and it’s a little long. Taking care of it one step at a time.

This week I’m reading The Pray-ers (review coming) and I just finished [easyazon_link identifier=”0764213520″ locale=”US” tag=”mommybabytool-20″]Lady Unrivaled[/easyazon_link](review coming sooner).
At the Dining Table

My Weekly Menu Plan:

For breakfast my daughter and I have been enjoying the French Toast in a Bowl recipe (page 266 of the [easyazon_link identifier=”1101902663″ locale=”US” tag=”mommybabytool-20″]Trim Healthy Mama Cookbook[/easyazon_link]). This (drumroll) is actually the first time I ever used a microwave to make something to eat!

I plan on moving to the oven but I needed something REALLY QUICK when I decided to try it. I’m glad I did. It was really delicious! My husband doesn’t believe me and is still in shock that I used the microwave. Although now he wants to try it since my daughter has been raving about the recipe 😉 (updated: I got him to try it this morning. He likes it but would prefer it in the oven).

Here is what’s on our menu for this week.

Monday: Going out for pizza (first day school and because I’m curing the sink caulking)

Tuesday: Baked Salmon and Zucchini Noodles

Wednesday: Ground Turkey Burgers

Thursday: Lentil Soup

Friday: Chicken Quesadillas

  1. I am in awe of your plans! LOL! We are supposed to be beginning school here this week…key word. SUPPOSED TO. LOL. I am taking today and tomorrow to get things ready and I will reevaluate. I hope your first day went well!

    1. LOL! Thanks Lisa. It did go very well. I can plan great but it’s the execution that’s the problem. The week went remarkably well. We did have some technical issues but new products are on the way and we’re able to find a way around it until then.

  2. 1) My kitchen counter totally needs recaulking. Will you be in Maryland soon? 😉
    2) Love my fellow Menu Monday friends! I haven’t been linking like I should, but I have been posting.
    3) My first week of school was a doozy! Two college courses for my 11th grader and Geometry, dead dish washer; gas leak; fried water heater… Can’t wait for week 2…

    1. LOL! I wish. I’m gearing up to do the shower which is a bigger scarier job. I’ll have to check out your menus. WOw you had a lot going on. I hope you’ve gotten things under control. That’s a lot to handle!

  3. Good to read that day one went well. Welcome back to school. I desperately need to fit in exercise, as well. Good luck on continuing with that. The kitchen sink looks good!

  4. Hooray for the first day of school! Hope it went really well. I like your plan of going for a walk together before starting school – what a great idea!

    1. It did go well thank you Kym! Kind of long but we seemed to be doing things in a sort of ceremonial way LOL! The walk is still going on (that’s good for us).

    1. Hi Annette I have a recipe here BUT that isn’t what I use. I don’t have an actual written recipe but in about a pound of ground turkey I add a shredded apple, thyme, sage, salt, and pepper, and sometimes about 1/4 cup of cooked brown rice (got that tip from Once a Month Meals). Then we just cook them in the cast iron grill and eat like a regular burger.
