To Everything a Season: A New Chapter in Blessing
About the Book: Trygve Knutson is devoted to his family and his community. With his job on the construction crew, he is helping to build a future for the North Dakota town of Blessing. Though he loves his home, he sometimes dreams of other horizons–especially since meeting Miriam Hastings.
Miriam is in Blessing to get practical training to become an accredited nurse. She's been promised a position in the Chicago women's hospital that will enable her to support her siblings and her ailing mother. Although eager to return to her family, Miriam is surprised to find how much she enjoys the small town of Blessing. And her growing attachment to Trygve soon has her questioning a future she always considered set in stone.
When a family emergency calls Miriam home sooner than planned, will she find a way to return? If not, will it mean losing Trygve–and her chance at love–for good?
My Review: Lauraine Snelling was one of my first ventures into Christian Fiction. It was Loraine's books that quickened the thoughts of homemaking within me. Her stories of Ingeborg's homemaking ways coupled with her entrepreneurial spirit captured me and I devoured the entire first series as soon as each part was available.
As the years have passed by in Blessing the lovely writing is still the same. To Everything a Season returns us to the still somewhat small town started long ago by Norwegian immigrants.
Now a word of advice. If you've never read any of the books about the town of Blessing you will be royally lost. Over 50% of To Everything a Season is catching you up on the people of Blessing and you don't get to the part hinted at in the synopsis until well past half of the book.
Don't get me wrong. I loved reading about all the happenings and even having a tiny bit of drama but I'm a long time Lauraine Snelling reader. These people are old friends. But if you are new to Blessing don't start here. My tip. It took a really long time until we even met Miriam and then an exorbitant amount until she meets Trygve.
So do yourself a favor and start at book one.
Now for old Blessing friends you will enjoy this book. I for one am happy that Lauraine keeps coming up with new series to bring us back. The old home town feeling is wonderful. And I can't wait to find out more about Trygve and Miriam in book 2 because yes, their story was not tied up in this book.
Christian fiction readers will enjoy this. Blessing has a blessing for everyone.
