We actually went out to dinner last week. I know, I know. With a soy allergy how on earth do you do that? Well my daughter's been wanting to go to The Old Spaghetti Factory. I know it's not a Michelin start restaurant but I figured a pasta restaurant should be able to produce a meal with olive oil and fresh ingredients right? And their dedication to gluten free had me hoping for the best. Well I played it safe with the salad (no dressing) but I went on and got spaghetti with the meat sauce. I know, I know. Taking my life in my hands.

My family asked me all during the meal what I would do if I had a reaction. While with my reaction to soy I don't go into anaphylaxis shock I do get horrible welts on my face that itch like crazy, make me look 90 years old, and last for several WEEKS!

I did drink some tea when I got home but that was it. I won't say there was no soy in my dinner but if there was it was miniscule and kept my reaction to a minimum.

I also made some homemade tater tots last week. The day after going out to dinner I included some things in the menu to help move any leftover soy particles from my body. Potatoes help with any acidic reactions I may have so I went hunting for a good potato dish. Browsing on the internet I found this nice baked tater tot recipe over at Wishful Chef. They were easy to make and I will probably do them again with a different variety of potato.

For this week's menu I got some family input. Sweet Peanut picked Monday's menu and DH picked Wednesday's.  Guess who's the healthy eater in our family?

Monday: Turkey (yes we still have some brined and cooked in the freezer), rice, broccoli

Tuesday: Crispy chicken with rice and veggies

Wednesday: Hamburgers and baked fries

Thursday: Minestrone Soup

Friday: Chicken Quesadillas
