Simple Routines Help You Keep Up with Your Home
The feather duster saves much time in the daily dusting of bric-a-brac and light articles…(lambswool or black ostrich) ~Progressive Housekeeping
If you've lived or live in a disorganized home and have a disorganized homelife then you know how important it is to get it under control. After a day at work or at school coming “home” only to be met with more chaos is not good for your health, well being, or sense of peace. Let's change that.
We're going to talk about the Simple Routines that are the foundation for getting your home life together.

My Backstory
I've always been a bit organized in my habits. When I was a young child I was really adamant about keeping my half of the bedroom (I shared a room with my sister) super organized. I lined up my Hello Kitty collection on the dresser. And made sure to make my bed super neat every morning.
Fast forward to college life and then married life and it's still the way I operate. A bit business woman a bit Vintage Victorian (without all the kitcsh).
I want to share with you what has helped me and others manage the demands of home with the chaos of life.
I love history and even studied it in college. In reading various history books I came to find an interest in how women kept home in times past. We tend to romanticize it these days but I wanted to know the real deal.
I won't bore you with the history of the bath, bathrooms, and how truly hard it has been to keep the home in a state of cleanliness through the ages. What I will tell you that the struggle to keep on top of home details is not a new one and has been studied, and tested over the years.
Fast forward to the early 20th century and I landed on a couple of books written by one Christine Frederick. On observing her husband in his business doing Christine came up with the idea of running her home like a business. Being efficient, planning ahead, and keeping a regular routine for all the details of home.
Since then there have been countless more books written about the best way to keep home. Many of them use the same foundation of having different routines to keep on top of your home.
I enjoy reading about the different ways people keep on top of their homes. I hope you'll enjoy reading about the way I keep on top of mine. And find some tips and tools to help you along the way.
About Daily Routines

Daily Routines make for efficient mornings, smoother mealtimes, calmer bedtimes, and faster household cleaning!
These days so many of us run ragged from work, to school, to activity after activity. Our home lives are forgotten about. And we wonder why things are so scattered at home. Why it seems we never have a calm moment and our home lives are not the soothing scenes we envisioned bk (before kids).
Enter Daily Routines
Daily Routines are little groups of home tasks you do each day at different parts of the day to keep your home together like a well oiled machine.
They are what keeps your home clean, your family fed, and also clothed.
I have a friend with 6 children. I had the privilege of staying with this lovely family and witnessing how daily routines kept her from going bonkers with 6 people under 12. I asked her how she did it. She laughed and didn't really answer me but I paid attention. She Meal Planned, kept a calendar (hidden behind the pantry door), had chores for the kids, and a husband not afraid to pitch in. It was beautiful to witness and done on autopilot all while treating us to a fun vacation. I did ask her write it all down so I could post it on my blog but she laughed at that too.
One thing I can tell you from observing her is that you don't have to be stuck cleaning your home for hours to have a clean and organized home. Some simple routines that turn into habits can help you keep on top of your home.
