There are days when I just know that my lack of energy is due to nutritional deficiency.

Recently, well a month or so ago, I was invited to review a product I had never heard of, Moringa Powder from OrganicIndia. Now what is that?!

Moringa is the leaves of the Moringa Oleifera Tree usually turned into a powder or made into a tea. It is native to India and is used as a dietary supplement. It is rich in vitamins and amino acids and has an alkalizing effect on the body.

I was intrigued because of all the testimonies of renewed energy on the OrganicIndia site and how many busy moms are adding it to their smoothies for a great start to the day.

So yes I was willing to be a guinea pig for you all and check this out for myself.

Like many moms, as I get older I’m finding I need to be much more conscious of what I eat and drink to keep up my energy. I also don’t drink coffee or black tea. I drink green tea occasionally and yerba mate off and on. It’s what I eat in the morning that gives me the energy to go and I’ve been relying more on smoothies for a great start to the day.

On that note I was sent a nice package of supplies from Organic India, including the Moringa, to review.

My package included Tulsi Green Tea, Tulsi Tea, Moringa Leaf Powder, Moringa Leaf Capsules, Tulsi Moringa Tea, Tumeric Capsules, a supplement called Joy, a bag, and a commuter cup.

By the way Tulsi is another popular tea in India with healing properties.

The Results of Trying Moringa

One of the moms in my mom group in particular suffers from fatigue and some digestion issues. I relayed some of the information I had been reading on Moringa and urged her to give it a try. She was skeptical at first and I told her it may be a few days before she notices anything. Of course she was looking for a burst of energy the next day and it didn’t come but I told her to hang in there as I was doing this with her.

I had started adding my own test with Moringa by adding it my morning smoothies. At about day 4 I was wondering why I was accomplishing so much! It wasn’t the same buzz from coffee or caffeine but I just seemed to be able to do more, get more done in a day, and have the energy to do more. I attribute this to the Moringa. This then inspired me to start taking a few of my other vitamins and keep my morning smoothies going. I make my own yogurt so I got a little more intentional about that.

I didn’t hear back from my mom friend on the topic of Moringa for about a week and then in a phone conversation she mentioned that she went out and bought a can! I was surprised because she had really been reluctant about using it and whether it would have any effect or not. So it must have been but I wasn’t sure how much.

So I kept up my own Moringa plan with putting in my smoothie and then on days when I’m not able to make a smoothie I drink the tea or pack the capsules to go. Meanwhile my mom friend was really coming to see the benefits of adding Moringa to her daily routine. She called a couple of weeks later and said Moringa was really working for her. She was adding it to her smoothies along with Ginseng and had started to notice some residual benefits in addition to the increased energy. Improved digestion. Another issue she suffers from.

So now we both enjoy Moringa in the morning and have our favorite ways to add it to our breakfast.

By the way we’re now a couple of months into using Moringa and my friend swears by it. She’s begun to have a residual effect of losing weight so needless to say she’s not going to without it. She takes it daily.

Here’s my own smoothie below.

Now one complaint I have is I do wish the can of powdered Moringa came with a measured scoop. I ended up using one I had from a previous product.

I’m really enjoying the extra energy I’m getting from Moringa and plan to continue using it. In fact I’m just polishing off my morning cup of Organic India Tusli Moringa Tea as I write this.

  1. I noticed similar results to your “mom friend”. I noticed that I wasn’t getting the same digestion pains as before, and have had a slight increase in energy throughout the day.
