Jesus Today Devotions for Kids by Sarah Young Book Review and Giveaway

Jesus-Today-DevotionalMy daughter and I have a little devotional time before starting our school day. Usually it encompasses scripture memory and prayer. When I was invited to review Jesus Today Devotions for Kids by Sarah Young I thought it would be a good addition.

About Jesus Today Devotions

Jesus is the Friend who is always with you.  Jesus Today: Devotions for Kids will pour this powerful truth into your children’s hearts as they learn that He knows everything about them and loves them more than they can imagine.  Each devotion is based on Scripture and is written as though Jesus is speaking directly to you, assuring that He is in control, that He is good, and that an amazing future awaits all who put their hope in Him.  Adapted from the ECPA 2013 Christian Book of the Year-winner Jesus Today, this devotional has the same themes as the adult version, as well as written-out scriptures.  It is a great choice for families to read and discuss during devotional time together.
It comes as a Hardcover book with 368 pages and designed for ages 6-10 years.

How We Are Using the Devotional

We’ve been using  Jesus Today: Devotions for Kids daily as part of our morning devotionals. My daughter seems to really enjoy each day’s reading.

Even if I occasionally get sidetracked she’s sure to remind me to read from Jesus Today she is loving it that much.

So far each reading has seemed to speak to her precious heart and touch a chord that has been weighing on her.

Jesus-Today-1

Here’s an example with the first 3 days.

Day 1: My Kind of Hope : This day encourages your child that their life has meaning. They have a story to live and if they put their trust in Jesus then ending is amazing!
Day 2: Not One Single Thing: In a nutshell, even though the world has many problems walk with Jesus when times are tough.

Day 3: My Plan: Jesus has a plan for your life. Even when it seems you would rather go a different way follow His plan because He knows what is best for you.

Then there are scriptures, usually about 3, to go along with each reading.

Since we use the King James Version Bible I’ve just been reading from our Bibles instead of the texts in the books.

Each reading sets the tone for a productive school day. I’m serious! We’ve had days where she wakes up on the wrong side of the bed. We do our simple devotion from Jesus Today, it speaks to a concern or thought on her heart, and whamo smiles abound and we can get on.

Now this is the case no matter if we use Jesus Today or just read from our Bibles but having these little readings written just for a young child seem especially special and helpful for the young heart.

They are sweetly written in the manner as if Jesus were speaking to your child.
