This week my friend Lori from 3GigglyGirlsatHome shares her yummy granola recipe for our week’s breakfast treat!

Breakfast can be a really difficult meal.

You don’t want sugared up stuff yet you want something easy.

You want something that will stick, hold you until lunch but you don’t want to make a 3 course meal.

If your family has any food allergies or intolerances, this becomes even trickier.

It is hard for us to find good, healthy, fortifying breakfast options for everyone. For our family, this is where homemade granola comes in.

Granola ingredients.
Granola ingredients.

You get to make this out of wholesome ingredients and it is super easy to change up and make even healthier. I have been making and eating this granola since I was little. It has just always been around. Thanks Mom!

GRANOLA:

  • 1 small box oats (6 cups of oats)
  • 1 C wheat germ
  • 1 C sunflower seeds
  • 1 C sesame seeds or nuts
  • ½ C vegetable oil
  • ½ C water
  • 1 T vanilla
  • ¾ C brown sugar or honey
  • ½ C shredded coconut
  • ½ t salt
  • 1 C dried fruit, such as raisins, craisins, or dates – optional

Add all ingredients to a large bowl and mix well. Place in a 9×13 or a jelly roll pan and spread evenly. Toast at 250 in the oven for 30 minutes to 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes, until it is toasted the amount you would like.

Feel free to change this in whatever way you might need. Sometimes, I don’t add the fruit. Sometimes, I add three or four kinds of nuts. Sometimes (like for these pictures) I don’t add the wheat germ (because I forgot it at the store). Change it, add to it, enjoy it.

That’s it.

Simple and easy to make. Healthy to eat for breakfast or a snack. At Home.
