Homeschool Weekly Wrap Up February 17, 2017

This week in our homeschool kind of went by in a blur. We lost a family member early in the week and have been kind of just muddling through.
As promised we ended last week with an art lesson. We are learning about working with watercolors from Creating a Masterpiece. We will have a review on the product soon. We spent the whole day on art and we'll do that again today before incorporating it as part of our lessons. In the meantime here are some lovely photos to view. For some reason the Sweet Peanut was insisting on adding the black bits to her paintings. Maybe she knew what was to come…

We've also been doing a lot of reading. Two books that came in the mail this week were Andi Saddles Up and Andi Under the Big Top. My daughter and her friends love the Andi books. Great for younger girls (just under pre-teens and pre-teens). We reviewed another Andi book previously.

In our Heritage Studies we're in Ancient China which is very fascinating.
In Math we've been bucking down with multiplying fractions and decimals. I wish I had a printable or something that I can say helped with this but what really helped my daughter through this hump is just going over her work text problems with her after she had done them. She said the same thing. Just having me talk through it does seem to help the understanding.
In Science we are now studying plants which helps since my garden will be center stage before too long.
Spelling is coming along nicely and that's it.
Next Monday is President's Day so be sure and check out my post on Presidential resources.
Short but sweet!
See you next week.

Looking forward to seeing all the masterpieces that will be created on this review – aren’t you? 🙂 We’ve found that just talking through math problems over and over has been helpful for my daughter too. Even to help her remember how to work the problems. Reviewing the steps out loud helps her remember. Thanks for linking up at Homeschool Highlights!
what will you be putting in your garden this year? Minds me I should order some seeds.
great timing! I have a post coming up, hopefully next week, where I’m talking all about the garden. How about you?
