Happy Monday Menu Planning!

How were your dinners last week? Mine were okay. The interesting part is that I only had $18 to spend on groceries for the week!

My husband and I, in an effort to look at all our spending, have decided on a monthly grocery budget to try out. This includes household items such as napkins, TP, laundry soap, fabric softener, and any cleaners.

No normally I would just go spend on those items but we’re trying to narrow down exactly what we need to spend on those items.

So to end out the month of September and the rest of the grocery money I had $18 and some change to spend wisely.

I was a bit nervous because I did have butter and milk on my list. I buy organic milk and cultured or grass fed butter and you know that’s not cheap!

I also had eggs, fruit, bread (I have GOT to start making bread!) and veggies on my list.

How did I do?

Great! My bill came to 18 on the nose!

Here’s what I bought…

  • 1 gallon hormone free milk (I’m making yogurt)
  • 1 pound of butter
  • 1 dozen hormone free eggs
  • 5 apples
  • 2 zucchini
  • 1 loaf of bread
  • 1 container of cocoa powder (a girl’s gotta have dessert)

Phew! I didn’t think I would make it but some savvvy shopping brought it home.

Now I’m ready to start a new month of grocery shopping. Contrary to my usual grocery shopping habits I decided to make a dent in a few household staples by going to Costco. I know not everything at Costco is great or a great bargain but here’s what I chose to get…

  • Kerry Gold Butter 1.5 bl
  • Omega 3 hormone free eggs 18 ct.
  • Parmesano Reggiano cheese (can’t be beat)
  • Organic sugar
  • grass fed beef
  • ground turkey
  • spaghetti sauce
  • coconut flour
  • coconut oil
  • fabric softener

Now many of these items I won’t need to purchase on next month’s Costco trip but there will be other items that I will need to add to the list.

So that being said how did last week’s dinner go? Well great remember that Jerk Chicken that was on my menu from eMeals? It was delicious as you can see from the image above. Don’t forget I’m giving away a free 3 month subscription to eMeals Monthly Menu Planner and it ends tonight so be sure to enter if you want to try delicious meals like this. Lot’s of plans to choose from. (the Jerk Chicken is from the Clean Eating Plan).

This week I’m going to start off with leftovers and keep it easy as we’ve got kind of a busy week.

Monday: Pasta and Salmon

Tuesday: can I say I’m not sure yet?

Wednesday: Chicken Curry

Thursday: Lentil Soup and Sandwiches

Friday: Ground Turkey Quesadillas
