When given the chance to review Renee Metzler's new book [easyazon_link identifier=”1620200139″ locale=”US” tag=”mommybabytool-20″]Total Home Makeover: Renew Your Space & Your Spirit [/easyazon_link]and host a giveaway: Renew Your Space and Spirit, I jumped at the chance. With back to school on the horizon I had already started making some plans to get things in order for a smoother entry into the new school year and I could use Renee's plan as a guide to do that.

Total-Home-Makeover-190x300About the Book: Get a total home makeover in 20 days.  Each day, Let’s Chat (daily coaching session) about one secret to home management, then Get Moving (daily to do list) and apply what you just learned.  Stay motivated with a Daily Renewal (prayer, Bible verse and journal) and a Weekly Reward (fun ideas to celebrate your success).

Plus get worksheets (meal planner, chore chart, daily routines, room planner), stories from the author, and a supportive website.  Grab a friend, your sister, or your small group and get started on your Total Home Makeover.

Renee-Metzler-199x300About Renee: Renee Metzler is a freelance author who lives in Central Pennsylvania with her husband, two daughters and a cat.   After beginning her career as a mother and home manager in 2002, and feeling “lost,” she began to research secrets to the trade of home management , and the idea of Total Home Makeover was born.

My Review: Let's face it. No matter how organized every home can use a tune-up. [easyazon_link identifier=”1620200139″ locale=”US” tag=”mommybabytool-20″]Total Home Makeover[/easyazon_link]comes on the scene at an ideal time. With back to school moms are so overwhelmed with so much to do it's resources like this that help you get it all together and reign it in. Renee's method for helping you get back on track is right on track and just makes sense. The book is broken down into 3 sections.

Phase 1: Transform  Self

Phase 2: Transform Family

Phase 3: Transform Home

Each phase is then broken down into days and you work through organizing one critical area of your home life each day for 20 days. While you can do many of the assigned tasks in one day many of the tasks in Phase 3 may take longer to get fully under control.

What makes this book different than other home makeover books?

I haven't read all the other home makeover books out there. Just a few really but what I like about this book is that being a Christian Renee incorporates scripture and prayer time into each day's task. I like how she also gives you a set number of days to get things going to get your home in order. 20 to be exact. You can get a good foothold on taking control of your home and implementing great organizing techniques to keep on top of your home in this time-frame and realistically should start seeing some nice changes after the first 5. Renee starts you off with organizing yourself which I've always felt is most important. You can't organize your home until you get your own habits organized. Otherwise you'll be back at square one before you know it. Renee's plan is also well thought out. She's organized the book to start you at the most important part and finish you off at your goal. She gives you forms and encouragement to help along the way. Along with a website

And when I say “organize yourself,” I'm not talking about your hair, clothes, and makeup. I'm talking about the way you go about your day and the things you do for your home. Organizing your habits within your home.

I found Total Home Makeover to be easy to implement. I read the day's section the night before and then would re-read it again the next day as I went through the assigned tasks. Having much of what Renee talks about already in place using this resource gives me a chance to update things for the coming season.  Just when I would think “Well she didn't touch on that.” Renee would talk about such and such and put all the pieces together for an organized home.

My recommendation is to get a binder, a notepad and set a time each day to give your home a total makeover. For me it worked to do this in the evening after all were in bed. I would get out my home organization binder and Total Home Makeover and get things organized. Renee gives you a coaching section, your to-do list, motivation, and a weekly reward idea to keep you on track for a complete home renewal.

Who is this book for? This book is for anyone who wants to get their home act together. Stay at home, work outside the home, self employed, single, married, newly married, engaged, etc.
